Gravestones Listings Of Prospect Hill Cemetery Compiled and Edited By Marjorie Valliere Howe
This 8.5"x11" book is spiral bound, paper-covered, has double-sided printing and is approximately 220 pages. History and deed information of the cemetery has been included as well as copy of early map which has been marked as to Sections used for the book. The stones are printed in family groupings where possible. Considerable information has been included that was not on the stones such as maiden names of wives, places of death, and sometimes names of parents of those buried. The cemetery also includes a Soldier's Section that is the burial place of the Civil War soldiers who died at the Civil War hospital in Brattleboro in 1864. All but two of these men are from places other than Vermont. The earliest burial in Prospect Hill is 1796 and there are still about one to two burials a year, although all plots have been sold. Included is an all-name index with approximately 1150 surnames.
